Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be cancelling publication of the Winter 2021/Volume IX issue of Déraciné. In it’s place, we will be launching our FINAL issue in the Summer of 2022.
This has been an extremely difficult decision to make, and we are deeply saddened that we will have to cancel our Winter volume and begin preparations for shutting down our publication.
ARE SUBMISSIONS REOPENING?
Yes! Submissions are now officially open once again, and will remain open until March 10th, 2022.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR CURRENT SUBMISSIONS?
All current submissions WILL be considered for the FINAL volume of Déraciné. If you have not yet received any word about your submission, please feel free to contact us. We are giving all the current submissions our full attention and care.
CAN I SEND ANOTHER SUBMISSION?
If you receive a rejection before the end of the submission period, you may submit again! If you want to submit another type of submission (for example, you have submitted a story but also would like to submit poetry) you can send us a second submission! Please note in the email subject line that it is your SECOND submission, so we can keep proper track.
WHAT ART SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED?
For the final issue, we will be accepting both black & white art pieces as well as color art submissions, combining the aesthetics of both the winter and summer editions.
WHY IS THE MAGAZINE SHUTTING DOWN?
Unfortunately, it is no longer possible for us to continue running Déraciné. As a two-person team, both with our own jobs and families, it has become increasingly hard to devote the time needed to maintain a literary magazine. We truly love Déraciné and all the contributors, supporters, and readers we’ve encountered since we began in 2017. This has been such an incredibly journey, and we want to end with an issue worthy of all those who have devoted so much time and care into their submissions and into supporting us.
WILL THE ISSUES STILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER THE MAGAZINE SHUTS DOWN?
Yes! Our site and all volumes will continue to be available and accessible for free!
Please contact us if you have any questions. More updates will be forthcoming as we work on building our FINAL Volume.
Thank you all so much for your patience, understanding, support, and contributions!

This is sad news. But it’s true that literary magazines take a huge amount of time to maintain and sometimes the right amount of time is just not there. Thank you for your hard work these last few years.
